Determine the Total Weight of the Cargo
The freight is determined based on either the total actual weight or the total volumetric weight of all packages listed in the export cargo bill of lading, whichever is greater.
How to Calculate Volumetric Weight
If the volumetric weight is greater than the actual weight, the actual weight shall be used as the basis for freight calculation.
Step 1: Calculate the Total Volume
For each package, multiply its length, width, and height (unit: centimeters). Note: Round up the length, width, and height to the nearest larger integer before multiplying to calculate the accurate volume.
For a shipment with multiple packages, sum up the volumes of all individual packages to get the total volume of the entire shipment.
Step 2: Calculate the Volumetric Weight
Divide the total volume of the cargo by 6000 to get the volumetric weight of the entire shipment (unit: kilograms). Any weight less than 500 grams shall be rounded up to 500 grams.
Step 3: Formula
Volumetric Weight = L × W × H / 6000
Where:
L = Length (in centimeters)
W = Width (in centimeters)
H = Height (in centimeters)
Note: The length, width, and height must be measured as the nearest larger integers.
